Our November Team Player Tuesday recognitions are Neil Geringer and Tara Keller! 💚🤍🏴‍☠️

Neil Geringer is a bus driver with the D32 Transportation Department. His nominator said: "Neil is the definition of a team player! He’s always the first to step up when trips need to be covered and never hesitates to lend a hand wherever he’s needed. He juggles a lot during his day routes, but you’d never know it — he always keeps a great attitude and gets the job done. The Transportation Department is absolutely better because of him!"

Tara Keller is a technician with the D32 Maintenance Department. Her nominator said: "She continues to demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence in everything she does. From early morning fixes to last-minute repairs, Tara plays a vital role in keeping our district going strong every single day. We’re incredibly grateful for the pride and care she puts into making our schools better for everyone."

We announce Team Player Tuesday on the third Tuesday every month during the school year. Fill out the form linked below to nominate someone for a future recognition.

The Perryville High School Silver Dagger Players invite everyone to their performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Nov. 6-8 at the Perry Park Center. 🎭💚🤍

All performances begin at 7 p.m. and tickets will be sold at the door for $7, general seating.

According to the Silver Dagger Players, this is not the dramatic Shakespeare people may be accustomed to. It is his funniest comedy with lots of misunderstandings, love potions, and spells being cast in both a fairy world and a human world.

This show will be most appropriate for anyone fifth grade and up, but there is enough action happening, that it should hold the attention of younger audience members too. Language warning — there is a reference to the other word for donkey several times during the play.

Help keep kids cool on school buses Image Source: Autauga County, Al. School It’s still summertime in Missouri, and the National Weather Service says that we’ll continue to see high temps in the mid-to-upper 90s with some places reaching 100+ degrees through Thursday. It’s hot everywhere – including on our school buses. “Even the air-conditioned buses are struggling to stay cool right now,” said Perry County School District 32 Transportation Director Sarah Orf. “Buses with A/C will have it on, and buses without A/C will have the windows and vents open for maximum air circulation. We’re providing iced water for drivers, and reminding students to fill up their water bottles so everyone stays safe on the way to and from school.” There are also things that parents can do to help their students stay safe and be more comfortable on the bus: • Help them stay hydrated: Don’t forget to send a refillable water bottle with your students each day. Fill it in the morning, and students will have the opportunity to fill their bottles before boarding the bus in the afternoon. Staying hydrated helps regulate body temperature in extreme heat, so encourage your student to sip water on the way to and from school. • Dress them well for the heat: While some classrooms may be chilly during the day, student who ride the bus should be dressed in light breathable layers; they can pack a light jacket for the classroom if needed. Remind them to take off jackets before they board the bus for the ride home. • Avoid using electronics on the bus: Powering off electronics on the ride home can reduce the heat generated by phantom power. • Avoid sugary and salty foods when it’s hot: These ingredients can dry the body out quickly, leading to the risk of dehydration in extreme temperatures. • Use a handheld fan: Using a hand fan or even a small, battery-operated personal fan can help your child stay cool, and help to circulate air on the bus. ## Graphic: Parents can help keep students safe and comfortable on the bus during extreme heat by providing refillable water bottles, dressing students in light and breathable clothing, having them avoid sugary or salty foods and drinks, encouraging them to turn off electronics on the bus, and sending a hand fan with them.
