The Perryville Primary Center’s leadership team has been recognized by their peers as among the best principals in the state. Principal Emily Koenig was honored this month by the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals (MAESP) as the Southeast Region’s 2023 Distinguished Principal, while Assistant Principal Lacey Amschler was named the Southeast Region’s Outstanding Assistant Principal. Mrs. Koenig and Mrs. Amschler were recognized at the annual MAESP conference in March.

Mrs. Koenig has served as the PPC principal since 2019 when the facility opened and the youngest students were moved from Perryville Elementary School which was home to nearly 900 students under one roof with Mrs. Koenig serving as principal before the primary center was built She joined the district in 2000, teaching first and fourth grades for 14 years before moving to administration as the assistant high school principal in 2014. She and her husband Andrew live on a farm, and have three children - Lane, Lucas, and Mya.  They love watching their sons play baseball, and traveling in the summer to watch their daughter show cattle.

Mrs. Amschler joined the district in 2011 and spent seven years as a fourth-grade teacher. She is now in her fourth year as the assistant principal at PPC. She and her husband have three children – Hudson, Greyson, and Bristol. The family loves attending sporting events together.
