Schools across the country, including Perry County School District 32, are experiencing problems getting the supplies they need to serve meals. It’s a continuing supply-chain issue caused by shipping delays and staffing shortages at warehouses.

This has resulted in the district being dropped by its primary food provider, Kohl Wholesale.

This leaves Food Services Director Debbie Baer scrambling for supplies, which means daily breakfast and lunch menus may change without notice.

“Kohl did drop our district as an account because they could not guarantee supplies and delivery,” Mrs. Baer said. “Luckily, I still have accounts open through US Foods and Sysco so I am able to order through them. The only problem is that they may not always have the item in stock that I have on the menus. These two distributors do not have the huge variety of items that Kohl offered, so   I am trying to find items to substitute. This means I may have to change a menu at the last minute. I will do my best to keep it as close as I can with the correct nutritional components. I am asking that students and parents be patient and understanding if substitutes are made.”

October menus have been posted, but are subject to change without notice.
